SEGUNDO DÍA DE JOB SHADOWING EN EL COLEGIO BEKIR SAMI DEDEOGLU DE ESTAMBUL

Hoy martes hemos empezado el día asistiendo a clase de inglés con Burcu y sus alumnos de tercero. La siguiente sesión hemos proyectado a los niños una presentación sobre nuestro cole para que nos conozcan mejor y los proyectos en los que trabajamos, especialmente el de Erasmus+ ya que es  por el que nos encontramos aquí. Lo que más les ha llamado la atención han sido los patios de recreo ya que aquí no disponen de mucho espacio al aire libre para correr o jugar, sino que lo hacen en los pasillos o en un patio que se queda algo pequeño para 2000 estudiantes. 

Más tarde, hemos acompañado a Burcu de nuevo pero, esta vez, en clase de 4°. La profe ha atraído la atención de los alumnos con un experimento científico donde han hecho magia mezclando colores y obteniendo otros diferentes mientras practicaban inglés sin darse cuenta. 

En el descanso para comer, hemos parado para tomar una sopa de lentejas en la sala de profesores antes de volver a clase con Sema. 

Esta mañana hemos entregado a los niños las cartas que con tanta ilusión han escrito nuestros alumnos para ellos y las han recibido hemos traído desde Tomelloso para los niños, quienes las han recibido con mucha alegría y sorpresa. Las han mirado y leído, una y otra vez, y no querían devolverlas a las profesoras. 

Tras pasar una entretenida mañana en el colegio, nos hemos dirigido a la Dirección Nacional de Educación para reunirnos, junto con el director, jefa de estudios y profesora de inglés del colegio, con el Director Nacional de Educación de este distrito (en nuestro país este cargo equivaldría al Inspector General de Educación) de Gaziosmanpaşa G.O. paša. En esta  hemos hablado de nuestros respectivos sistemas educativos, de la situación de la educación en ambos países, organización de centros, funciones de los cargos directivos, la importancia de la enseñanza de idiomas en los colegios y otros asuntos. Ha sido un encuentro muy interesante y enriquecedor y todo un honor que nos haya recibido tan amablemente y nos haya dedicado una parte de su tiempo, nada más y nada menos que uno de los más altos cargos en Educación de esta ciudad. Mostramos nuestro más sincero agradecimiento.

Una vez acabada la jornada de colegio, hemos continuado la visita turística por Estambul paseando sus calles, desde el bazar de las especias hasta el Gran Bazar, contemplando la riqueza de colores, olores y productos de todo tipo.

Como colofón final, hemos cenado en un restaurante admirando las vistas panorámicas de la Mezquita Azul, Santa Sofía y la grandiosa plaza de Sultanahmed antes de regresar al hotel y descansar para el agitado día que nos espera mañana.

Today we started a new day attending to an English lesson with Burcu and her third graders. Next period, we have shown the students a presentation about our school so they could know our school and the projects we are currently working on, specially Erasmus Plus project, since that’s why we are here.

The most outstanding thing for them was the different playgrounds because they can’t enjoy much outdoor space, but they do it either in the corridors or in a small patio.

Later, we have accompanied Burcu again, but this time in fourth grade. The teacher has caught their attention through a scientist experiment where they made magic mixing several colours to get new ones at the time they practiced verbs and vocabulary. 

At the lunch break we have spent some time in the teachers room eating a traditional lentils soup before going back to the classroom with Semà.

Today we have handed out the letters written by our children in Spain to the students. They have received them very enthusiastically and haven’t stopped reading them once and again and wanted to keep them. Unfortunately, they will must share with the rest of the school as there are many pupils. 

After a very entertaining morning we have headed to the Gazi Osman Paşa Directorate of National Education to have a meeting with the Principal, the Principal Assistant, the English Teacher and the National Education Director of the district.

We have been talking about our both educational systems, how education works here and there, organizational issues, the duties attached to the Principal position in Spain and Turkey and the importance of learning languages at school among other topics.

It has been a very interesting and enriching gathering and a great honor he has had us all and took his time to share kindly with us. 

We really appreciate it!

Once the school day has finished, we have continued sightseeing Istanbul walking through its streets from the Misir Çarsisi or Spices Bazar to the Grand Bazar amazing ourselves with their colours, smells and all kind of goods. 

As the icing on a cake, we have enjoyed our dinner from a panoramic restaurant admiring the Blue Mosque, Haiga Sophia and the great Sultanhamed Square before getting back to the hotel to have some rest since a busy day awaits for us tomorrow.
